The 6 Traits of Writing

Next week in Language Arts, students will be preparing for their second practice writing prompt. When students reach 8th grade, they are required to pass a writing test. At Kennedy Road, we take multiple practice writing prompts through-out the year, to begin to prepare them for this writing test, because, as they say, practice makes perfect. We use a system called the 6 Traits of Writing in order to grade them on this writing. Through-out the week, students in my class will be working on several activities to better prepare themselves for this writing prompt. However, for those parents that have no idea what the 6 Traits of Writing is and for those students that need some place to look them up while you're at home, here is a handy dandy glance at what the 6 Traits of Writing are.
