Ladies and gentlemen of my Spanish class, this is it. We are slowly winding down to the end of the semester, and you have been doing a good job. One of the most memorable moments from this first semester was when we all discovered the fun and educational video ConjugationsBack, which presented an entertaining way to teach you how to conjugate your verbs in Spanish. For those that need a refresher, here it is.
Now, for your final challenge this semester, you will have to do what the above video did. Write a song that helps teach someone else something that you have learned in Spanish this semester. You may "parody" a real song like the ConjugationsBack did or you can write something brand new. This is also the first challenge that I will allow you to work on with another student, just make sure that when you submit it, it has all of your names on it. You should also be aware that if your song is good enough, we might just have to record it and put it on the website for all to see, because after all, if you're good...you're good.
Because this is going to take awhile to do, and the fact that you have your final due next week, I'm going to give you to the rest of the semester to turn this in, so it's due on Friday, December 17 before class is over. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me in class or just ask them on here, and I'll answer them as soon as possible.
Good luck and have fun.

Language Arts Weekly Challenge 12 - Proofreading
This week's Language Arts Challenge is simple. All of the following sentences contain an errors. Simply retype the sentences, correcting the errors. The errors that you will see deals with capitalization, punctuation, spelling, and usage. Seeing I got this up a little later this week, I'll give you until Sunday to complete it. Good luck.
Notice: "My" needs to be capitalized because it is at the beginning of the sentence. "Florida" needs to be capitalized because it is a proper noun. Week does not need to be capitalized, because it is a common noun. "Go" needs to be changed to "will go" because it is taking place in the future (next week), and the tense needs to match the action. A period needs to come at the end, because it is a declarative sentence.
1. The hole class arived late because the Bus broke down
2. Mine sisters collects butterflys.
3. Jean like that movie but She hates the ending
4. Did you’re family enjoy the fiesta
5. Me did not see wear you planted the seads.
Example: my father go on a trip to florida next Week
Answer: My father will go on a trip to Florida next week.

Cupcakes for A's!!!
Today all my students, whether they were in my Language Arts/Literacy class or Spanish class, that received an A on their Progress Reports on Wednesday, got fresh baked cupcakes. Now granted, they were not fresh baked by me, which is probably why they were so good. When report cards come out in January, a new treat will be given to everyone who earns an A in my classes. The challenge is on. Good treats go to those that earn them.

Canned Food Drive
Kennedy Road Middle School has begun their Canned Food Drive. The Canned Foods are going to help those families in our community that are less fortunate than the rest of us. The overall school goal is 5,500, however, we'd like to be able to donate much more than that. If we reach our goal, Coach B can finally get that haircut she's been dying for, because she's going to have her head shaved in front of everyone.
Each grade level is doing things a little bit different in order to add that extra incentive to get students to bring in cans. Ms. Brown has promised a pizza party to everyone in Seventh Grade, provided each homeroom has at least 300 cans. On top of that the homeroom that has the most cans will receive a Hot Wing Party. Lots and lots of good food can be won for helping out others.
For my homeroom, on top of everything that Ms. Brown is doing, I'm giving a red ticket away for each can that a student brings in. From the looks of it, I might have to invest in another roll of tickets, seeing two days into the competition I have had students already donate 84 cans in two days. I also have promised a little extra to the student who brings in the most cans.
We're doing all these incentives, which is a lot of fun for everyone, but remember why we're doing this. It's to help people that really need it. The canned food drive goes until Friday, December 10th, so come on and bring those cans in!!!

Language Arts Weekly Challenge 9 - Persuasive Writing
Persuasive writing is writing where you are trying to convince someone of something. In persuasive writing, it's your goal to make the reader agree with your thinking by the end of the essay. You must provide convincing information in order to accomplish this task.
Your challenge this week is fairly simple. Simply persuade me, in one paragraph, that a Snickers is better than a Twix. If you like Twix bars better, then persuade me that a Twix bar is better than a Snickers.
You have one week to accomplish this as this challenge will be over on Friday, November 5. Good luck.
